Development that Fits Chicago’s Neighborhoods

Newcastle development projects include historic renovations, ground-up retail and high-rise residential developments, and reimagined city blocks.

Mixed-use Gold Coast Development

1210 N. State Parkway

1210 N. State Parkway delivered in Spring 2022. Following a complex assemblage and entitlement process, Newcastle redeveloped three vacant properties at a high-profile corner in the Gold Coast into a 12-story mixed-use building with 89 apartments and 17,600 square feet of retail space. The project exceeded the Sustainable Development Policy of Chicago for green building requirements and integrated the latest science-based strategies to optimize building health.

High-Rise Multifamily Development

State & Chestnut

State & Chestnut is a 35-story property Newcastle developed on land purchased from Loyola University. The tower, featuring 367 apartments and prime corner retail space, addressed an unmet demand for modern apartments in the Gold Coast. Certified LEED Silver, the property includes a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments with upscale finishes and amenities, including a rooftop pool deck with panoramic views.

High-Visibility Retail Development

3301 N. Ashland

3301 N. Ashland is a block-long, 13,800-square-foot retail center. The project features 266 feet of frontage and rear parking with direct access to the retail spaces. Placing the parking behind the building provides improved visibility for retailers and enhances the pedestrian shopping experience, key goals of the City of Chicago Planning Department.

Large-Scale Renovation in Lakeview

The Belmont

The Belmont underwent a major renovation to transform the former landmark vintage hotel into premium apartments with first-floor retail space. The building features studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and a full suite of amenities, including on-site valet parking, a rooftop deck with panoramic views of Belmont Harbor, and multiple social areas.

A Reimagined City Block in Fulton Market

Gin Alley

Newcastle redeveloped six historic brick and timber loft buildings into Gin Alley, a retail destination and residential community. The project includes 65 upscale modern apartments and 67,000 square feet of retail space. The buildings surround a European-style courtyard featuring unique urban dining and shopping.
